Primary amyloid myelopathy is a rare neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This progressive condition typically manifests with progressive weakness in the limbs, often accompanied by loss of coordination. In this case report, we present a subject with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented with an unusual clinical scenario.

The subject's initial symptoms included marked proximal muscle weakness, along with frequency and urgency of urination. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed elevated protein levels suggesting amyloid deposits. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.

The patient was treated supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition progressed steadily. This case underscores the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, open access journal of case reports particularly those with asymmetric limb involvement.

An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report

We present a rare case of Crohn's disease in a 42-year-old male presenting with novel symptoms. The patient initially complained signs of nausea, which were mistaken for a common gastrointestinalillness. Further investigation revealed inflammatory bowel disease. The patient was treated with conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including immunomodulators. The response to treatment was positive.

Presentation

A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.

Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.

The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.

Medical interventions were started to minimize/reduce liver damage, including administration of N-acetylcysteine and supportive care. The individual's condition remained stable over the following days, requiring advanced care in the pediatric intensive care unit.

This report highlights the severity of acetaminophen overdose in children and the importance/necessity prompt medical intervention to prevent potentially devastating consequences.
